Professor R. K. Bhandari is having rich and varied experience of more than 30 years of hospitality operations, and academics. A qualified trainer, who has under gone through extensive training of Direct Trainer Skills & Designing of Training under Department of Personnel & Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India is also achiever of the certificate of appreciation from American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AH & LA) USA for Training and Education in the hospitality industry in the field of Managing Hospitality Human Resources, Hospitality Supervision and Food and Beverage Service.
He is having extensive experience in designing of curriculum, organizing seminar/ conferences of national and international level on current and relevant topics related to tourism and hospitality industry and was President of India International Conference on Hotel, Hospitality and Tourism Research Conference, till 2016. He was Founder Editor of Indian Journal of Applied Hospitality and Tourism Research in 2009 and remained Chief Editor till 2016.
He joined BCIHMCT in 2005 and continued as Principal till November 2016.
He has also worked as Peer Team member in the accreditation team of NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) an autonomous body under University Grant Commission on many occasions. Understanding the need of international collaboration in the field of education, various MOU were initiated by him with schools and institutions of repute across the globe.
He is member of academic councils and boards of various Universities and of editorial advisory boards of journals. He was the jury member of the Chef Award 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 organized by Indian Culinary Forum. He keeps on sharing opinion through writing and presenting key speeches, lectures in the various relevant congregations.
Participation and interaction with global heads of Hospitality Educators in Vatel International Convention in Mauritius and world Hospitality Deans Summit in Hongkong Polytechnic University has given him opportunities to connect and participate in discussions on global perspective of Hospitality Education.
He has worked as Professor & Dean in the Vatel School of Tourism and Hotel Management, Gurgaon (India) and Faculty of Hotel & Tourism Management, SGT University Gurgaon.
Recipient of various awards and acknowledgements, he was conferred Indian Hospitality Congress Award- 2016 (President’s Award) for outstanding achievement in honour of high quality work performed in the field of Hospitality and Tourism.
