About the Founder

Shri Banarsidas Chandiwala Sewa Smarak Trust Society was established in 1952 by Shri Brijkrishan Chandiwala in the memory of his father Late Shri Banarsidas Chandiwala.

Shri Brijkrishan Chandiwala was a freedom fighter and a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. He was also the Founder Member of Bharat Sewak Samaj & Sadachar Samiti. He was honored with a “PADAMSHRI” in 1963 for his devotion and contributions in the field of Social Services. His firm belief in life was the upliftment of the Society. This belief he inherited from his father Sh. To facilitate the well-being of pilgrims visiting the Kalkaji Temple during Navratras and other religious occasions, he constructed Dalans, Bagichi, a Well and a Pond at his property at Kalkaji where pilgrims could rest during their pilgrimage to the Kalkaji Temple.
